Firearms Transfers:

Sunflower Auction is a licensed dealer in firearms (commonly known as an FFL) as granted by the Federal Firearms Licensing Center (FFLC) of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms (ATF). As such, we are licensed to:

(1) receive firearms from any individual or licensed dealer anywhere in the United States
(2) transfer ownership of firearms to residents of the state of Kansas directly from our registered premise
(3) transfer ownership of long guns to residents of any state directly from our registered premise
(4) ship handguns to any other registered dealer in the US for them to transfer to a buyer in their state

To Purchase Firearms from Sunflower Auction:

Kansas Residents (Hand Guns and Long Guns) / Non-Kansas Residents (Long Guns)
We require the buyer, who must also be the same as the new owner and user of the firearm, to fill out form 4473, Over-the-Counter Firearms Transaction Record. Any number of firearms can be transferred with this form on any given day. All transfers must take place at our registered premise, regardless of where the firearms were actually sold. Buyers of handguns must be at least 21 years of age. Buyers of long guns must be at least 18 years of age. A valid Kansas driver's license is required for the transfer, and the address on the license must match the address provided on form 4473. We will submit this information to the Federal Bureau of Investigations (FBI) through the National Instant Criminal Background Check System (NICS) over the internet or by telephone. If the transfer is approved by the FBI, we will release the firearms to the buyer. If the FBI declines the transfer, we will not release the firearms to the buyer. It is the policy of Sunflower Auction to require buyers to fill out form 4473 on ALL firearms sales, regardless of the type of firearms purchased (handguns, rifles and shotguns included). It is also the policy of Sunflower Auction that all firearms buyers who are Kansas residents must also be citizens of the United States. Ammunition sales and certain curio or relic firearms are not subject to form 4473. We recommend that repeat buyers obtain a Unique Personal Identification Number (UPIN) from the FBI to speed along the approval process.

*At this time, we are not charging a fee to transfer handguns or long guns to Kansas residents or long guns to non-Kansas residents when the purchase takes place at one of our in-house auctions.

Non-Kansas Residents (Hand Guns)
Please provide the name, address and phone number of a licensed dealer in your state of residence. We will ship the firearms to that licensed dealer once we receive verification of their FFL status (this is normally accomplished by an email, fax or copy of their license with an original signature). The cost of shipping will be due at the time of purchase. We are happy to recommend a licensed dealer that we work with frequently in Kansas City, Missouri. Please make sure your state permits you to purchase the firearms you are attempting to transfer. If the firearms you purchase are not permitted in your state or if you fail a background check in your state, a 25% restocking fee will apply in addition to the return shipping cost, no exceptions. Non-US buyers should provide the name, address and phone number of a licensed firearms exporter.

*At this time, we are not charging a fee to transfer handguns to non-Kansas FFL dealers above and beyond any shipping costs.

To Transfer Firearms to Sunflower Auction:

Please call us first, then instruct the individual seller or licensed dealer to ship the firearm(s) to our registered address below. We will provide verification of our FFL status via fax or email to the seller. Once we receive the firearm(s), call to set up an appointment to come pick up your firearm(s). See the instructions above pertaining to Kansas Residents for the details of the transfer. The cost is $25 per firearm.
