37. King George III Signed Pay Authorization, DS, June 21, 1782
King George III (George William Frederick; 4 June 1738 – 29
January 1820) (New Style dates) was King of Great Britain and King of Ireland
from 25 October 1760 until 1 January 1801, and thereafter of the United Kingdom
of Great Britain and Ireland until his death. He was concurrently Duke of
Brunswick-Lüneburg, and thus Elector (and later King) of Hanover. The Electorate
became the Kingdom of Hanover on 12 October 1814. He was the third British
monarch of the House of Hanover, and the first of Hanover to be born in Britain
and speak English as his first language. In fact, he never visited Germany.

General of our Guards, Garrisons & Land Fories.” The document, a pay
authorization states: “Our Will and Pleasure is that out of such Monies as are
in or shall come to your hands for the Use of Our Land Fories, You pay unto
Mssrs. Gray and Ogilvie late Agent of the 2.d Battalion of Our 71st Regiment of
Regiment of Foot now Commanded by Our Right Trusty and Right Welbeloved Cousin
Lieutenant Colonel Alexander Earl of Balcanas, the Sum of Nineteen Thousand
Eight hundred Eighty Seven Pounds Six Shillings and Eight pence…
